Whether a supplier assembles its own battery packs determines several things a buyer cares about later: whether a specification change is a production instruction or a negotiation, whether the same configuration can be reproduced two years afterwards, and where responsibility sits when a pack requires attention. MPMC POWERTECH CORP., established in 2008 and headquartered in Shanghai Pudong, publishes a dedicated energy base with pack assembly lines among its manufacturing facilities.

What the Published Facility Contains

MPMC lists MPMC Energy Tech Corporation, launched in January 2025 at Yangzhong in Jiangsu, with a total investment of USD 27 million, a 19,000 m² workshop and a 3,300 m² research centre. The equipment listed includes one semi-automatic and one fully automatic battery pack assembly line alongside automated storage and hybrid system assembly lines.

Listed products from that base include containerised lithium battery energy storage systems with fire protection, temperature control, safety, access control and protection provisions, energy storage lithium battery pack modules, and ODM LFP battery packs. The location is described as an industrial base accounting for approximately 30% of China’s domestic market share in high and low voltage switchgear, busbars and cable trays.

Traceability Across the Wider Group

MPMC’s Haimen facility is separately described as a 22,000 m² workshop with a 4,000 m² office area, end-to-end CNC machining, fabrication and testing capability and a CNAS-accredited testing centre, operating with integrated CRM, ERP, PLM, MES and OA systems.

Those systems are what allow a configuration recorded on a first order to be reproduced when a second unit is required two years later. For a buyer placing phased orders that reproducibility is the practical value of owned manufacturing, more than the assembly capability itself.

What Is Built on Those Lines

MPMC lists 314 Ah LFP cells rated at 8,000 cycles at 90% depth of discharge across the stationary HBD-A series, with liquid cooling, IP54 system and IP67 battery pack protection and aerosol fire suppression to CE. The HBD-E series is listed at 6,000 cycles with HVAC cooling, and the mobile HBD-R series at 6,000 cycles with seamless on-grid and off-grid switching as standard.

A documented European delivery lists CATL 1P52S packs, which indicates that cell supply and pack assembly are separate questions. A buyer should establish both: which cells are used, and who assembles them into the pack that arrives on site.

Temperature Control as a Manufacturing Output

MPMC lists 6.7°C precision temperature control across its storage systems, described as low variance. That figure is a product of the pack design and the thermal management engineered around it, which is one of the areas where assembly control shows in the delivered specification.

It also connects to the warranty position. MPMC states a validity condition requiring battery box operating temperature maintained at 0°C to 25°C with a ±3°C tolerance and humidity at or below 80%, which makes the thermal design a commercial matter as well as a technical one.

Consistency Across a Repeat Order

Owned assembly supports consistency but does not guarantee it contractually. Three measures cover most of the exposure: a named parts list with a written duty to notify any component change, a first-article approval repeated whenever the configuration moves, and a fixed test report template.

MPMC states that lead times for both standard and customised products are confirmed per order against configuration and current production scheduling, so recording acceptable substitution criteria in the contract keeps later phases straightforward to release while preserving interchangeability.

ODM and Private-Label Arrangements

MPMC lists ODM LFP battery packs among the products from the Yangzhong base, alongside energy storage lithium battery pack modules. For a buyer intending to badge a product, the questions are the same ones that apply to any OEM arrangement: minimum order quantity, price break points, repeat-order lead time and the notice period for specification changes.

Certification also applies by product and market rather than transferring with a badge, so the applicable file should be confirmed for the exact configuration and destination together with the party holding each registration.

What Owned Assembly Does Not Cover

Cell manufacture and pack assembly are separate activities, and a supplier assembling its own packs is not necessarily producing the cells within them. That is normal in this segment and not a shortcoming, but it does mean the cell supply question has to be asked separately.
